Movin Monkeez Programme
Movin Monkeez is an amazing programme which compliments the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and incorporates many aspects of the 7 early learning goals.
It is a programme which aims to get children moving and active, whilst developing coordination, gross motor skills, rhythm and balance. Children will learn the basics of dance, rhythm, movement and healthy living in a safe environment whilst having lots of fun!

What do sessions involve?
We focus on using props such as scarves, balls, beanbags, instruments, hoops and many more. We explore different movement exercises to fun and stimulating music along with encouraging cooperative learning through children working in groups and pairs.

Most sessions are focussed around a well-known theme (such as all about me, space or people who help us) and/or use quality texts (children’s books such as Tiddler, Giraffe’s Can’t Dance and Owl babies to name a few) which also promotes a love of reading and stimulates communication, language development and unlocks imaginations. As you can see these sessions can work fantastically with a thematic teaching approach as Movin Monkeez plans can be tailored around the settings’ current themes or schemes of work to ensure a continuation of meaningful learning.

Age groups
Movin Monkeez session plans are split into four different age groups allowing children to undertake exercises specific to their stage of development (early walkers-3yrs, pre-school, Reception and Yr1). Differentiation within the activities can be made to support those working towards their age-related goals or exceeding them.
Adults are welcomed at every level and are encouraged to participate with the children, support their learning and this also provides a fantastic bonding experience for all. It also allows teachers and key staff the valuable time to observe the children and collate evidence to support the children’s achievement of early learning goals.
